Yes, I think they are wisely erring on the side of caution, as one does not want anyone to say "look, there's a contest on a WARC band so let's make one too".

I think the proposed under planning QTT activities take this into account so it is clear there isn't even any scoring, it's all about just getting an actual QSO that exactly is NOT anything resembling a "hit and run" type of contact.

This is a very precious thing we have, and a recent Robinson Club activity I did not like how it was done as it really sounded like a contest the way high speed calling of CQ RCC and then only exchanging 5NN. It evidently wasn't a contest.

Even the "SES" and some of the "FF" activities are conducted in a manner that resembles a contest in its style, I certainly don't support such by giving them any points. If it is a genuine activation with a real RST exchange and a bit more, than that's fine, but I do not take part in ANY 5NN-TU stuff.

It's nice to see more and more QRZ pages with a crossed out 5NN or crossed out 5NN TU symbol, I think more and more are fed up with the quantity over quality, and honestly, any 5NN TU just seems to out of place on 30m.

Interestingly FISTS "activities" (rather than contests) specify that "You can use any amateur radio band in your licence except for 12m, 17m, 30m, 60m, and bands lower in frequency than 160m"

So there will be no ladder activity on 30M

I guess this may be as the activity is "scored" so may be seen as a contest?

I am 18434, I think. Contact M0CDL, he recently joined 30M CW. I can really see it work if the Ladder takes it up.

Indeed! I'm FISTS1124, so from back in the early 90s I think. But life got in the way, otherwise this would have been done a lot sooner, and a lot more besides! But better late than never! Also intend writing for Key Note, and providing better service as well as further activities for 30CW with the help of our members, we should make progress.
