QRPP month at Wythall Radio Club so trying my luck with 0.5 watts.
early success with Italy , Poland and the Balearic Islands. (thank you Ini for the 459)

Good to know that this band provides genuine low power contacts.
Modest set up here with a K2.. and a slightly bent 90' doublet.

Lots of band activity recently.

PS the mystery signal in 10.119.8 seems to have gone??

(my capital!) and today 9c ??

Anyway we'll see but it seems quite a recent arrival as I listen quite a lot on 30m.

Many thanks and HNY to you too

John M6KET

Hi John,
Definitely a ham who got a transceiver for Christmas and prefers to QRM with a programmed message on his PC rather than make a QSO. I asked for his callsign, no answer: RST here 569/579
73/77 and HNY 2026 de F4GOU/Tom

Anyone know the origin of the repeated signal on the frequency above?

it's a series of numbers terminating in 'echo 98 romeo 46 alpha'

only just noticed it but close to 10.120 SKCC calling frequency

john

Well not QRPP month in March but was pleased to work TZ4AM yesterday on 30m.

5 watts and the bent doublet. KX3 and the Czech army straight key which slows things down nicely!

Also heard but not worked A61Q so it's good to hear these stations active on the band.

Disappointing really! 45 spots this morning on RBN calling CQ at leisurely 15/16 wpm on 10.120 for 15 minutes or so. 5 watts here but getting out into Europe just fine. No replies and no activity other than frenetic WWA operation.

This is a similar daily pattern and it really does seem as if the band has been more of less deserted by operators looking for a meaningful CW QSO… Discuss!!

January traditionally a 'How Low Can You Go' month at Wythall Radio Club so I'll give it a go again on 30m in the coming month.

Will try to keep to 1 watt or below.

RBN spots at similar power are very encouraging but QSOs less so!!

Call almost daily on the band anyway.

Give me a call if you can (just) hear me!

Best wishes and a Happy New Year to all

John

Nice one John.

The only thing I have on 30M at the moment is a FTDX10 and that has a "minimum" of 5W unless I put an attenuator inline. Hopefully be QRV on a new QMX+ soon so may try lower power myself now (had great fun with 2W on a Rooster albeit not on 30M ).

73 Simon G0FOZ

Just managed to keep the discipline and since August 3rd have only used 1 watt on the 30m band. (K2 and bent 90' doublet). About 20+ QSO's all told and much what you would expect with OZ/DL/ON/EA/HB9/PA/PA/OE/OK/SM/F all worked and thanked for their patience although the honest RST's were quite encouraging.
Used Maasbree at times to check if the signal was getting out OK. Responding to calls was more successful than calling CQ and early to late evening seemed the best time. Not a huge amount of time devoted to this but just an interesting challenge putting the band to work for me!
Anyway that's it for a while and will be pushing 5 watts come September….
See you on 30m
best
John M6KET

Really surprised to hear (just!) VK2GR on 30m (10.120) last night around 21.55 BST. he was working John EI7BA in Cork who was 579 here. VK2GR was 229 and in the noise really but just decipherable. Did call but the 5 watts wasn't really going to make it .. good to hear the DX though. K2.. bent doublet and 5 watts

I was calling on 10.126 when I noticed VK2BJ on 10.114, he was calling so I answered him and he came straight back, at 19:24z. We have since emailed each other and he said he would confirmed via LoTW, although our emails have already served that purpose.

I have never worked outside of Europe either, but I have been spotted in Honk Kong and the eastern USA. Still waiting to work USA on 30M.

Am still in a state of shock, worked VK2BJ in NSW, signal was very faint, I gave 539, but the strength sounded more like a 2. I received 549, I was running 100w to a fan dipole that is not up very high, perhaps 5 to 6 metres at most. It's nice to work VK from a wire, rather than a beam!
