Actually, I just checked RBN for the similar times and spots as yours… Edited after re-checking! :-» it seems we had similar results… for the 50W you need to add 3dB to compare to mine at the same times. There are a few spots that were at the same time from the same stations, useful for comparison, but there is of course QSB. I did not call CQ often so I did not get picked up by as many:

Edit: but another thing, in that direction as you can see at VK5EEE I have about 2 S points (12dB) down as it is off the end of the dipole. So I'd have expected your results, with low angle from vertical, to have been much better than mine. Worth more tests!

Congrats OM David this antenna is working well! I have very, very few RBN hits, nothing coming anywhere close to that, on my current antenna. My antenna is probably 2 or 3 S points down in direction North America as it is end on to Canada, in order to maximize for Europe, my priority.

So you have encouraged me to do better for other directions, and to try the vertical I was thinking about. I will report any developments. You can see my current antenna and its radiation plot at my page VK5EEE. I look forward to QSO over the weekend.

Using a 10m squid pole, I attached 7m of 2.5m insulated building wire along with 4 ground plane radials. Initial measurements showed resonance at 9.6MHz so after trimming around 240mm, I was in the right area 10.116MHz, zero reactance, 54 ohms resistance.

The antenna appears to work well and much better than my inverted Vee. After many CQ, below is are the RBN hits, predominantly from the states and Canada.
