When using a URL directly, no need to surround it with any tags. For images to be displayed, pleas click on the image wizzard in the tool bar above the text entry box, near the end of the first line, before the < / > symbol, the two greenish coloured ones, the second is "insert image wizard"

If using the image insert tags via the wizard you'd also need a direct link and not from a site such as imgur which won't allow direct linking via non-HTML page so in this case as per your post above just put the URL without any tags around it.
