I know this is not purist but it is worth considering during the times when there is no propagation. I used this successfully in sked with DM5EE. Each side of the QSO, where there is no propagation or signals are too weak to copy, listens on a web SDR to the other station.
This is much easier than many may think: all you need is your Internet and web browser. To make it easy, I spent a lot of time gathering the various web SDR around the world into an easy to use — simple click and use — list: websdr
If this keeps 30m busier with QTT why not — so long as you are ALSO having your volume up on the rig, do NOT turn down the volume, you MUST listen on frequency to comply with regulations, and to be able to accept calls etc from others that you can hear directly.
It also helps to know that when you are calling CQ for ages and ages, it IS getting out. I can listen to my CQ in VK2, ZL, Japan, Europe etc, and know that it's not ME it is a lack of activity on the band. Naturally RBN also helps, but does not pick up every CQ.
Like I said, I'm not saying people should use the Internet to assist, augment or in any other way, related to your on air activity. But the option is there if you wish to make use of it.
